PEARL RIVER RESULTS AND WRAP-UP:

Pictured is our Main Event Winner (and last woman standing Tara Snow).  You'll notice she is wearing our "In the Money Bling Beads" and custom LWS crown.  Complete results are posted on Hendon Mob here.

Also check out our dedicated blog which covered all the action and tons of photos of the event here.

We want to extend a giant thank you to Neal Atkinson, Denise Dahl and every one at Pearl River Resorts, including the staff and dealers at the Golden Moon and Silver Star.  Also, huge thank to all the traveling dealers, registration, and team of floors led by Paul Dutsch that allowed us to pull off a succcessful tournament series.  What a top tier crew and class act one and all.  Thank ya'll!

Year over year we did over 100% better than the same stop previously. We smashed records with 828 players in the Re-entry event and had more players in the Main for that price point then any other Main Event. We made every guarantee and received a ton of great feedback.  So, no surprise we are excited to get back there in October.

Simply our pleasure and joy to work with such great people, and most importantly we want to thank each and every one of you that put your hard earned money into our tournament series. So many of you made the trip, told your friends, and came down to compete on the felt.  Gulf Coast Poker and our partners are so grateful to you the players who come out and support us.  We hope it was as fun for you to play as it was for us to promote.

As mentioned we will be back again in October and hope for ever bigger fields, prize pools, and entertainment.

Sneak peak at the smoke free tournament room we are getting moved to...

GREAT READS:

-The story of the Million dollar poker game at Live on The Bike.  LA Times.

-Ten years ago, wow that was quick, this song was number one and poker was peaking. This video had it all, Beats headphones, bwin (a European Poker site) advertising on the felt, and beautiful people playing the game. It wasn't Lady Gaga's first hit but arguably a star was born (see what we did there) with this smash hit:

-Kevin Hart and Antonio Esfandiari's boxing match is getting closer. Some surprises... it's still undetermined if it will be filmed and if so ifthe film will be released (though a film crew will be there... huh?), Esfandiari is a 35 to 1 dog (wow!), that and more at Cardplayer.

-More on the sports bettor who had a shot to win 300k if Texas Tech won. BroBible.

ROUNDERS RELATED "OF THE WEEKS":

HAND OF  THE WEEK:

In the comments section of a much discussed tweet we saw Doug Polk analyse a pivitol hand from the movie.

Always informative, even when dealing with a fictional hand.

Why a Rounders theme you might ask?  Well, they just relased the complete original screenplay...

LINKS AND NEWS:

WILLIE NELSON POKER SHARP:

Willie Nelson has a home poker game with odd rules and he generally crushes it. Jack Johnson who wrote a song "Willie Got Me Stoned and Took All My Money" elaborates on it here:

Victims of Nelson including the acting Wilson brother, Matthew McCoughney, and Woody Harrelson, not to mention all the all time country greats Nelson pals around with.

POKER JEOPARDY CHAMP:

Alex Jacob former poker pro, and sort of a Jeopardy pro, is playing currently on the shows All Star Games which honors the 35 seasons of the show. Here's all the details about the format.

ADAMS SECOND IN US OPEN 8 GAME MIX:

One time Gulf Coaster Brandon Adams finished second in the 25k buy-in 8 Game Mix at the US Open. He won 150k and was pipped at the end by Nick Schulman. He finished with three cashes in the series for over 314k. That was good for fifth in the overall standings.

IVEY LOSES COURT CASES AND IVEY ROOM NAME:

The Aria, nine years after naming their room after Phil Ivey, has renamed it to Table 1. Players always called to ask if Table 1 had a game so it seemed fitting. The Aria denies that it had anything to do with Ivey's legal trouble from edge sorting in Baccaret.

MASSEY STIRS THE POT:

On our FACEBOOK page we are talking about Aaron Massey's twitter comments. Essentially "I don't want your congrats after busting a poker tournament."
TIERCE TAKES IT:

Bonnie Tierce of Decatur, AL is our lucky Social Media Contest winner for Week 2. She wins a seat into GCP's Pearl River Spring Poker Classic 20k Guarantee on the 20th.

The Decatur native won by liking and sharing our post on Facebook. Matt Bizub's name was drawn as the runner-up in case Bonnie is not able to play the seat.  Bad news Matt as she sounds like she will be there.  She didn't supply us a poker pic but did say her favorite hand is pocket aces even if they sure do get cracked a lot.
