MILLION DOLLAR HEATER:

REENTRY RESULTS:

Schuyler Thornton (TX), a previous Pearl River winner, added to his resume with first place in the Re-Entry after a chop giving him $68k. Looks like 6 or 7 players divvied the loot. Wanda Breaux of Pensacola finished 8th just missing the chop with 14k. Ben Tompkins of Birmingham won 11.5 for 9th.

Local legend Mo Moeini the Motel Mogul won a touch under 10k for 10th as did Matt South of Florence, AL (11th) and Garrick Sapp of Moss Point, MS (12th). HARRAHS NOLA NEWS:

WEEKLY WINNINGS GOING UP:

Big news with some January changes at Harrahs NOLA. The Saturday tournament is getting bumped up to a $200 entry fee and the percentage to the rake is also going down. Should create some bigger prize pools for the 11am event. That starts this Saturday with 12k in starting chips!

We hear there are possibly other changes to come for the weekly schedule.  Currently there are tournaments Monday at 6pm ($130 buyin), Wednesday at 11am and 6pm ($150, $25 Bounty), as well as the new $200 Saturday 11am event.

WSOP:

Weekend of the Pro Bowl (likely Sunday January 26th at 11am) there will be the first of a new monthly WSOP Satty. Your road to the Main Event starts now! Looks like the buy-in will be around $600. A long structure with play starting at noon will provide $10,000 to all the winners to use for a 10k WSOP Main Event buy-in or of their choosing.

If this goes well should be a monthly event until the series. There is also talk of a massive last chance WSOP Bankroll Booster with a multi-flight event just after the circuit even in May to cap off the season and send a TON of locals to the WSOP. More details on all this to come.

IP WSOP-C MAIN EVENT:

Our long overdue wrap up of the tail end of the IP. What can we say, we've been busy over in Bossier City at the Horseshoe. But time to give some locals their due.

Heck of a performance by Baton Rouge's Ben Thomas (pictured above) who placed runner up to Boris Kasabov of Houston. Ben won ~60k while Boris took home just under 100k for first. The final table include multiple GCP Award Nominee Hamid Izadi who place third for 42k. Jeremy Eyer won almost as much for his fourth place finish as the Biloxi online pro won earlier in the week in the Venom series with a 30k payday. The final table also included: Brett Apter (FL, 5th 22k); Benny Champlin (LA, 7th 13k); Wayne Boyd (TX, 8th 10k) and Philip Walsh (MS, 9th 8k).

The final 18 included: Marshall White (10th); Bob and Robbie Beck (11th and 12th); BJ McBrayer (13th), Andrew Schwartz (14th Birmingham 14th); and familiar names 15th through 18th; Luther Tran; Trace Henderson; Steve Bierman; and Truong Vo.

BJ held off the torrid runs of Russell Boyette, Charles Brady, Ben Thomas, Trace Henderson and Gavin Munroe who won his second ring at the tail end of the weekend. Well deserved BJ.
HOLIDAY HOLD'EM UPDATE:

JUST ANOTHER DAY FOR THE DILDAYS:

Quite a series for most of these baggers. Chester Dilday (pictured in that sweet GCP T-shirt) chopped for the big share Wednesday in the Holiday 150 and found a bag in the Holiday 400.

Chester's brother Laurence Dilday, Larry Reynaud, and Larry Weitzel  cashed the same tournament and bagged this one. If they can survive to the money they will all go two for two.

Jacob Seale, a Gulf Coast Poker Award nominee, bagged the biggest stack eliminating Steve Bierman in a crucial pot to propel him through the night.

Locals are predicting the prize pool will go well north of 100k. Still time to get here for $100 Mega (11 am today and 4 pm Saturday),  Flight B (tonight 6pm), Flight C (Saturday 11 am),  Flight D (Saturday 6pm) and the $250 (1pm Sunday).

IP UPDATES:

POLLARD PLO CHAMP:

William Pollard of Georgia bested Ben Thomas heads up in the PLO tournament to win over 8k. John Holley of Destin in third place for 3.4k with Chris Stevens of Gautier, MS placing fourth for almost 2.4k. Lots of Louisianians in the money: Clint McAlister (5th 1.7k), Brian Mock (6th), Jimmy Phillips (8th), and JP Kolb (9th). Also cashing Kevin Kaylor of Houston, Melissa Singh of New York, David Prociak of Florida, and Matt Silva of Charlotte.

WITH A TRACE:

After a number of close calls over his career, the winner's photo in WSOP-C events, has usually been without a Trace. Not this time. Trace Henderson took down the 8 max event winning $13,382 for first place and his first WSOP gold ring. Busy day for the professional poker player as his room-mate came within a hair of final tabling the Venom Main Event on ACR. Surely, Trace was tracking Jeremy Eyer's progress to see if he could win the million dollar first place prize. Eyer on the day won more money but Trace claims the W and the bling.

Trace beat Boris Kasabov of Houston heads up. Kasabov won over 8k for second. The final table included: Russell Boyette (third 5.6k) who just missed his second ring of the series; Blake Purvis of Montgomery just under 4k for fourth; JP Kolb of Youngsville, LA fifth for 2.8k; and Dustin Nelson of Tallahassee, FL 7th for 1.6k.

Other locals in the money: Ray Curran; Danny Doucet; John Littich of Brandon, MS; Judy Leblanc; and BJ McBrayer.

MONSTER STACK RETURNS FINAL TABLE:

William Pollard seeking a second ring in a matter of days is the chip leader with 2.66 million. Desmond Scott not too far behind at 2.2 million. Shaw Quillan and Matt DeMarsh both bagged over a million. Also returning: Kip Jones; Kim Sang; Chris Dietsch; James Payne and Morton Davs. First place is 24k and everybody at the final table has already earned over 2k.

IP UPDATE:

SECOND PLACE FOR PRISSY:

Some familiar faces in the final seven, unofficial final table of the Six-Max, and Prissy Giroir (pictured left) went the deepest finishing second. Robert Cheung came down from Vancouver to add to his jewelry collection. He won his third ring (also has a bracelet) and a smidge under 10k.

Prissy won 6.1k and bragging rights in her household as Jerry Giroir finished fifth for 2k. Not sure why we put Jerry's picture up there as all the glory should be Prissy's on this day.  Oh maybe it's that sweet $45 Gulf Coast Poker Hooide he's rocking--wear the logo get the pics!.  BJ McBrayer added another final table to his series earning ~$1.5k for sixth. Walker Miskelly won 1.1k for sevnth.

Hanh Nguyen of Biloxi finished third for 4.1k. Ryamond Starrett (11th) and Jason Dursun (15th), also of Biloxi, made the money. Speaking of successful poker couples Lane Leblanc finished 12th.

HOLLEY, THOMAS CHASING PLO GLORY:

Ben Thomas and John Holley are third and fourth in chips in the PLO event out of the four remaining players. They are guaranteed 2.3k with first place paying a little over 8k and a circuit ring.
'KEE MAIN

GUTHRIE WINS 160K FOR SECOND IN CHEROKEE:

Montgomery, Alabama native Hannah Guthrie gutted to be one card away from a WSOP-C Main Event victory.

Hannah turned a flush on a 4s9d4d 3d board. She watched Eric Gorman of Maryland ship it and snapped called. He sheepishly said, "Uh oh that's not good," revealing pocket sevens.

Brutality on the river as a third 4 hit the board. The next hand they got it in each with an ace but Hannah outkicked by Gorman's Queen. He flopped another Queen for good measure.

Great run, by Hannah Guthrie. Kyle Cartwright won ~$54k for fifth and Marshall White $42k for sixth.
WSOP IP RE-ENTRY:

JOE "SO SICK" SALEH WINS AGAIN:

The GCP Player of the Year continued his torrid streak of tournament dominance by winning Event #2 $400 NLHE Re-entry for $34k. After an epic SIX HOUR (!) heads up match with Easton Oreman (pictured) of Kenner, LA Saleh added a WSOP-C ring to his trophy collection.

Oreman had to settle for 21k and his second... WSOP-C second place finish. He also was runner-up to another GCP Award winner (Josh Thibodaux) in May. Heads up had an amazing number of all-ins with the shorter stack prevailing whether in front or behind.

Congrats to the Meridian, non pro Joe (even if it's your side hustle if you win all the money at some point you a pro, no, Joe?) for taking down the event. Very gracious in victory Saleh praised Oreman's perfect play to the WSOP-C reporter.

The Final Table also featured:
3 Jesse Lott $15,903 Selmer, TN

Greg James of Vicksburg finished second for 4.8k and Theresa Williams of Pensacola earned $3,332 for third. BJ McBrayer couldn't quite match his new wife Morgan's outright victory in the nightly.
