6.1.19 - 4.2.19
WSOP 19: SHORR SECOND: Shannon Shorr took a massive chip lead six handed but was pipped to his first ever bracelet by Daniel Stelitz in the 5k No Limit Hold'em Event. Arguably prior to yesterday the short-list of best to not win a bracelet included Strelitz, Shorr and another at the final table Maria Ho. If that wasn't a strong enough lineup they also had to battle Ali Imsirovic (an early leader for WSOP Player of the Year). Strelitz won 442k for first while Shorr "settled" for 273k. This is Shorr's second 2nd place WSOP finish and his incredible 73rd WSOP cash. Strelitz attributed his win to an insane run of cards heads up. LOWBALLERS: A few familair names cashed in the 2-7 Lowball event. Andy Hwang of Texas just missed the final table wining 4.7k off his $1500 buy-in. Harold Kizzire of Birmingham and Ryan Lengahan formerly of Mobile, both slid into the min-cashes at 39th and 44th respectively. ON THE HORSE: Philip Hui of San Antonio bagged 10th best stack with 316k in the $1500 Horse Event. David Brown of TN also found a bagged. David Bach of Athens, GA cashed yesterday in 39th. Aaron Klusman of Birmingham, David Baker, Brian Tamplen of Houston, James Pritchard of Duluth, GA, and Norman James all cashed too. 10K HEADS UP DOWN TO FOUR: Keith Lehr and Cord Garcia are in the mix with just two more wins to go until another bracelet for both. Ben Yu and Sean Swingruber also stand in their way of the 183k first place and 115k second place prizes. All are guaranteed 73k for the final four. VENETIAN DAY TWO: MSPT 3MILLY: Great to see Hiep Doan with 233k has advanced to Day 2 in the four flight MSPT three million guarantee. 500 players out of the 4345 in four flights have bagged. There awaits 540k up top with a min cash starting at 450. Matt Higgins with 305k, Jason Gooch with 319k, Stephen Schorr (Lafayette 207k), David Jackson, Marshall White, Harrison Gimbel, Melanie Weisner, and Russ Head also will be in the mix. |
WPT TOURNAMENT OF
CHAMPIONS: German Ole Schemion finished first in the prestigious Champion of Champions event. He also earned 440k. Gulf Coast Poker Blogger Jonathan Little finished ninth for $37,540 one spot ahead of Noah Scwhartz who won the same amount. WPT broadcaster Tony Dunst finished second winning a quarter of a million dollars. Also at the final table fellow broadcaster Nick Shulman, Aaron Memelstein, Dominik Nitsche, Griffin Paul, Simon Lam, and Ryan Tosoc. ARE YOU GOING DEEP? WSOP 19: BIG 50 FLIGHT D: This final flight featured an overwhelming 9,171 players that got whittled to the 551 who advanced to day three. Altogether this tournament featured over 28,000 entrants. Those that bagged include: Kevin Ho, Gainesville (2 m); Antonio Graham of Atlanta (1.6 m); Lilian Blinn, Katy (1.9m); Clayton Saliba, San Antonio (1.4m); Kevin Young, Atlanta (1.2 m); Yi Li, Jacksonville; Bret Hansen, Brandon, MS; Jose Anaya, San Antonio; William Baker, Donald Smith, Thien Le, Houston; Michael Feinstein, Austin; Justin Fawcett, Gainesville; Praveen Ponnaganti, Jacksonville; Jonathan Alvarez, San Antonio; Mike Parekh, Houston; Tim Gray, Austin; Chico Pho, Memphis; Michelle Wolkomir, Shreveport; and Huy Pham, Atlanta; PAID OVER 1K: These players will not return for the conglomeration day of all the flights but earned over 1k: Doug Porter, Knoxville; Patrick Knight, Houston; Blake Whittington, Chattanooga; Barry Johnson, Roanoke, AL; Dalip Madani, Jacksonville; He Jiang, Adger, AL; Arthur Farmer, Nashville; Jeremy Pozza, San Antonio; and Jason Bullock, Baton Rouge. PAID UNDER 1K: The players that made the money but not quite double the buy-in include: Kelly Salgado, Jacksonville; Long Nguyen, Houston; John Dubad, Tallahassee; Robert Park, Atlanta; Jason Pavloff, Austin; Raymond Starrett, Biloxi; George Beck, Houston; Roy Henry, Many, LA; Phillip Sonnier, Lafayette; Dale Gleneck, Memphis; and Jeff Rutland, Jacksonville. $600 BRACELET EVENT? The $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack Event 9 featured a big field and some hiccups running concurrent to the largest flight of the Big Fifty. Play had to be halted multiple times early to process all the payouts from the two tournaments at once. Guy Mckay of Huntsville, AL finished 38th out of 6,151 players. He won $8,941. David Crenshaw (47th) of Prattville, AL won $7315. Leif Force of Tallahasse finished 93rd for $3029. Matt Higgins place 173rd for $2257. William Davis of Jacksonville and Philip Hui of San Antonio both earned a touch under 2k. Also cashing: Jesse Solano, San Antonio; James Sievers, Monroe, LA; Josh Thibodaux (he's having himself a healthy month for sure); Jeremy Sanders, Phenix City, AL; Terry Kim, Ocean Springs, MS; Rob Salaburu, San Antonio; Jackson Su, Houston; and Robert Elliot, Pinson, AL |
WSOP 19: ROETKER FOURTH: Frederic Roetker of Lafayette, LA finished fourth for 53k in the $400 Online NLHE bracelet event. He beat Phil Hellmuth (39k) by one spot. This is by far his biggest cash in a WSOP event. Other players from the region to cash include: Brian Wood, Houston; Jason Bullock, Houston; Blake Baker, NOLA; David Mzareulov, Houston; Mike Horchoff, NOLA; Yao Zhao, Gainesville; Sean Legendre, Metairie; Ian Palomo, San Antonio; Kevin Eyster, Lafayette; and Josh Palmer, AL. BIG 50 FLIGHT C CASHERS AND BAGGERS: With day 2C wrapped up in the biggest live poker tournament the world has ever seen here are the players who didn't advance from our region but won over 1k include:Tim Burt; Gabriel Andrade of Houston; Joshua Reeves of Collerville, TN; Captain Tom Franklin; Dan Tomlinson, San Antonio; Shau Austin, Atlanta; and John Zable, Gainesville. Those who cashed for less include: Richard Vielhak, Smyrna, GA; Christopher Wingard, Collierville; Charles Lineberry, San Antonio; David Johnson, Navarre, FL; David Hall, Birmingham; David Paik, Katy, TX; David Chocheles, NOLA; Justin Shaft, Houston; Andrei Bodrug, Destin; John Duncan, Austin; Rob Salaburu, San Antoinio; Michael Jasik, Austin; and Lijun Xu, Houston. Those with chips, a million dollar dream, and headed to Day 3 include: Sean Small (1.5 million), Douglasville, GA; Jared Ingles (1.4 million), Dry Prong, LA; Richard Chevalier, Shreveport, LA; Justin Harvell, Nashville; Irene Cary; Hien Tieu, Houston; Kathy Mckay, Huntsville; Easton Oreman, Kenner, LA; Samuel Robinson, Houston; Jerry Giroir, Lafayette; Luke Nguyen, Houston; Jarron Bailey, Morgan City, LA; Pedro Rios, Houston; Gary Lansford, San Antonio; Juan Agurire, San Antonio; Rush Smith, Atlanta; and Michael Jones of Ocoee, FL. |
WSOP 19: HALPERN FOURTH: David Halpern of New Orleans fell three spots short of winning his second bracelet. The fourth place finish in the $1500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better and 70k score is Halpern's second biggest result behind only his bracelet win. Ten of his sixteen lifetime tournament cashes have come in a variation of Omaha. Eight of those have come at the WSOP. BIG FIFTY: Hard to sift through all the data. It appears this will be the biggest tournament ever with well over 25,000 players. Flight D might have had 9000 players. A sea of people everywhere. Flight B cashers over 1k but not advancing to Day three include: Arda Ozgur, Metairie; Shelton Thomas, Houston; Philip Jackson, Austin; Tyler Hank, Luling, LA; Edgar Rodas, Houston; and Danny Dorcey, Mandeville, LA. Others B players in the money for less include: Roger Franco, Austin; Adam Porter, Houston; and Joseph Landers, Tallahassee.. |
WSOP 19: TOO BIG TO FAIL: Poker twitter is alight with complaints about the Big 50--an event so gigantic Day 2s overlap sold out Day 1s. A $500 buy-in with a good structure is shockingly (sarcasm there) overloaded with players seeking bracelet glory and the millions this tournament prize pool should offer. That said logistics for this kind of field were always going to be a nightmare and a credit for the WSOP to pulling it off (even with hiccups) as well as they have. Of course, with 20,000+ possible entrants/re-entrants it's going to be almost silly to cover Day 1s other than with a note or two. For example Day 2b concluded, and in that flight of which 5972 started ; 1580 returned for Day 2; and now a manageable 321 players in the money will rest up before converging with the hundreds of other players that will make Day 3. Still as the dust starts to settle on A and B flights let's see who's left... The biggest story in A (316 left out of 6095): Josh Thibodaux (pictured above courtesy of WSOP.com) fresh off his ring win in Harrahs NOLA finished Day 2A second in chips with 3.2 million. Also returning Steve Williams of Arkansas, Sean Williams of Houston, another fresh ring winner (from Metairie) Yucai Zhao with 1.285 million, David Champion of TN, James Altsman of Pelham, AL, Kris Hawkins and Cory Albertson of Austin, Chris Compton of Atlanta, David Weinstein of Baton Rouge, and last year's Main Event second place finisher Tony Miles of Ormond Beach. DAY 2A has Jason Baldrige of San Antonio with a top ten stack and coming back to 2.35 million. Byrson Byrd of Austin has 1.5 million, Sean Legendre of Metairie amassed 1.4 million of chips, Kristen Deardorff (a returning Monkey's Minion pictured above during her Main Event run last year. A reminder go here to invest for this year's Main Event--shares selling quickly), Sebation Giurintano of Madison, MS, Brenton Assing and Yonase Zenebe of Houston, and Tuan Pham of Jacksonville. EARLY CASHERS: Over 1K: Ryan Haman of San Antonio, Louis Trombetta of Tallahassee, Jeremy Berger of Lillian, AL, Josh Palmer of Daphne, AL, Bobby Keohavong of Eunice, LA, Eric Dogu of Gretna, LA, and Anthony Pham of Metairie, LA. CASINO EMPLOYEE EVENT: Nick Haynes of Tampa, Florida won the bracelet and 62k for first. Thomas Thibbons of Diberville, MS won over 1k for 48th. GREEN GETS IT IN SUPER TURBO BOUNTY: Brian Green of Decatur, TX won 345k for first place after beating Ali Imsirovic heads up. The loaded final table included Asher Coniff, Loren Klein, and Daniel Negreanu. HALPERN IN IT: David Halpern of New Orleans returns with 13 Big Bets (1.27 million) in the $1500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better event. Haplpern has won a bracelet in a $1500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event so is no stranger to final tables. They played down to seven players and the night closed with another Gulf Coaster former GCP blogger Shannon Shorr eliminated in 8th place for 20k as he busted by Halpern. Jeter Brock and David Self of Alabama both cashed as did Grantel Gibbs of Baton Rouge. |
NON WSOP NEWS: EYSTER EARNS 156K AT ARIA: Kevin Eyster, Louisiana's all time money winner, padded his lead over the state with another 156k earned at the WPT Aria Summer Championship. Eyster finished fourth in a loaded field and final table. Matt Wantman won the event and the 443k for first. Noah Schwartz finsihed 7th for 69k. HAND OF THE WEEK: LOUISIANA SPORTS BETTING VOTED DOWN: Louisiana lawmakers lacked the courage in an election year to approve Senator Danny Martiny's bill. In a surprising vote what seemed a done deal was brought down by an overload of alterations to the bill. The legal wranglings are covered by the Advocate here. Clancy DuBose's take is here: |
WSOP-C NOLA MAIN
EVENT: MISSISSIPPI TAKES HOME MAIN EVENT GLORY: Chris Lane of Brandon, MS faced Dustin Stewart of Biloxi, MS for all the loot. A great run by both players. Lane got the ring and each won well over 100k. Great job by Dustin and Chris. A result well deserved for both players. Yousef Saleh of Meridian, MS also made the final table earning 27.5k for 7th. Local New Orleans and Metairie players held their own with Jon Guidry winning 83k for third place, John Cressend of Metairie, LA winning 62k for fourth, our own Wild Bill Phillips earning 35k for sixth, and Steve "Fear the Bier" Beirman 17k for ninth. John Templeton of Sarasota, FL won 46k for fifth, and Allen Brivic of Houston 21k for eighth. Also want to say thanks to the Day 3 players who sported our patch. Wear the patch... get a pic... John Cressend: John Templeton: Jon Guidry: and this "Billy" guy: Bracelet winner Foster Hays of Dallas finished 11th for 13.8k, Piyush Mittal of Metairie 16th for 9.3k, Chad Chisolm of MS 19th for 7.7k. Jaron Bailey of Morgan City won 7.7k for 21st (and took one hell of a bad beat to bust: AA all in on the flop, his opponent called with third pair and went runner-runner for the straight). Kwong Ip, Caufman Talley, Chris Hight, and David Weinstein all made more than 4k. Also cashing Jeremy Williams of Batesville, MS, Tim Burt, BJ McBrayer, Dan Lowery, Philip Walsh, Terry Moore, Ryan Roussel of Metaire, Jeff Bromberger of NOLA, Terry Melancon of Breaux Bridge, LA, Luis "El Chopo" Tablas of Metairie, Kevin Eyster, Blake Whittington, Blake Barousse, Bob Beck, Robert Elliot, Peace Marvel, and Aaron Lasater. |
WSOP-C NOLA SECOND
HALF RESULTS COACH WINS! This is a joy to report. We know Ron Held is an avid reader of our site, and a big supporter of players from our region especially as they make runs, so we were glad to discover he "held" on long enough to get his first WSOP ring in Event #11 one day No Limit Hold'em. He won 18k for first. Ellis Thomas of NOLA finished second winning a little bit over 11k. Duane Fontenot of Geismar, LA made another deep run winning 6k for fourth. Greg Woods of Houma won 3.4k for sixth. Chris Prejean of Baton Rouge won a touch over 2k for 8th and Michael Mayeux of New Ibergia 1.6k for 9th. Brian Mock (who made a habit of cashing this series), Joel Doney, David Nguyen, Rebecca Cambell, Matt Higgins, Amee Dave, Johnny Landreth, Nick Caluda, Chris Martin and Kweli Mwasi all cashed too. GORDON GETS IT! We were equally as happy to see our friend Randy Gordon win a ring of his own. The Metairie contractor had to deny Matt Higgins in heads up play to win the title. Gordon won 21k for first place and Higgins 13k for second. Richard Sinclair of Mobile, Justin Sharpe of Memphis, John Demarco of Ocean Springs, Chris Dupuy of Baton Rouge, Todd Murphy of Slidell, and Tim Giancontieri of La Place all made the money. SENIORS CHOP: We are told the top four places chopped for 6k each and played it out for the ring. Greg Monk beat Kenny Milam heads up. Samm Wiggins and Angela Monroe (it's not just Jerry who can play) also divvied the spoils. Curtis Terry finished fifth for 2.5k. Mark Holmes, Ed Hord of Biloxi, Paul Price of Pascagoula, Chris martin, Mike Stegall, Ronnie Hope, and Stephen Zalva also cashed. EVENT 13 DOUBLE STACK: Aaron Mcevoy of New Mexico won the last event and 16k. Lots of the usual names made the money including Bruce Little (5th ~4k), Duane Fontenot (6th 3k), Tim Burt (7th 2.3k), Austin Reilly, Jared Ingles, Rebecca Campbell, Robbie Beck, Kenny Milam, Stephen Bierman and Charles Morris. |

The other 2 are a min cash away. We would like to say Congrats to Dan "Duma" Lowery on just a stellar run this year. From what we read he went into heads up with a sizable chip lead. WSOP-C NOLA: EARLY CASHERS: Eric Wilkinson (pictured) and Martin Zentner of New Orleans made the final table of the No Limit Hold'em Ond Day Event 1. Wilkinson earned a little over 10k for third and Zentner 7.6k for fourth. Jeremy Williams of Batesville, MS finished second for 14k after losing to Aaron McEvoy of New Mexico heads up. Also in the money, James Lejeune of Ringold, LA, Justin Brassieur of Lake Charles, LA, Judy Leblanc of New Iberia, Hiu Yeung of Metairie, Frnacis Bruce of Cut Off, LA, Miguel Thompson of Algiers, LA, Wayne Krantz of Terrytown, LA, Marco Matte of Zachary, bracelet winner Anderson Ireland, Big Phil Treaudo of New Orleans, LA, William Anderson of Chattanooga, Gerald Inman of Vestavia, AL and Chris Dupuy of Baton Rouge. WSOP-C TUNICA WRAP UP: WHITTINGTON WINS MAIN: Jacksonville, now Chattanooga pro, Blake Whittington won his fifth circuit ring (and his second at Tunica) and nearly went wire to wire in the Main. The Day 1 chipleader fell to second in chips at the end of Day 2 and stayed near the top of the count all the way on. The 27 year old earned over 151k for first. Tim Burt made the final table and but his Main Event dream ended in sixth place with an almost 30k pay out. Schulyer Thornton, a former Pearl River champ finished in 8th winning over 17k. Preston McEwen of Murfreesboro TN (13th 9k), Trace Henderson of Laurel, MS (16th 7.6k), Bradley Hicks of Hoover, AL (18th 7.6k), TK Miles (20th 6.5k) and Kevin Eyster (4.1k) all made the top 30. Also cashing Justin Harvell, Hamid Izadi, Chad Chisolm, and Jaime Kizer. WHITTINGTON WINS EVENT 9: Yep, just before winning the Main, Whittington won the one day tournament and 23k. Aaron Klausman of Birmingham (4th 7.9k), Whittington's good friend Matt Higgins of Chattanooga (6th 4.5k) and Aaron Lasater (8th 2.7k) all made the final table. WALSH WINDS UP THIRD IN EVENT 11: We were rooting hard for Philip Walsh who won 6.1k for third in the $250 NL Hold'em Double Stack. Mike Sanders the accomplished rounder from Russellville, AR won 13.8k for first beating Cynthia Compton of Atlanta (8.5k) in heads up play. Also cashing Walker Miskelly, Jessie Bryant, David Blackmon of Lake Charles, and Frank Alpandinar. WOMEN'S TITLE TO MORGAN HAYES: The Tuscaloosa player who has steadily improved the last couple of years earned her first ring in the Ladies Event. A well deserved title and one we were very happy to see in the updates. Connie Rice finished third, Lisa Canez 5th, Joanne Cain 6th, and Tamika Hamilton 7th. WILEY ROBBIE MATTHEWS DEEP IN 12: Robbie Matthews who booked double senior wins at the IP this year was in the thick of it in the $400 No Limit Hold'em event. He won 4.8k for fourth. Matt Higgins barely beat him to the cashier's cage winning 3.6k for 5th. Also cashing David Henderix, Robert Hankins, Maurice Hawkins and Michael Pelt. |

WSOP-C UPDATE: EIGHT FOR LOWERY: In the Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Re-entry, Daniel Lowery of Arkansas took first place for 52k. This marks Lowery's eighth circuit ring and second this season. Edward Allen of Hoover, AL finished third for 24k, Ben Thomas of Baton Rouge fifth for 13k and Mike Monaghan of Yazoo City, MS 9th for a touch over 5k. Robbie Matthews of Baton Rouge just missed the official final table leaving in 10th spot and earning almost $4.2k. Michael Fess of Shreveport won the same in 12th. Also cashing Chico Pho (16th), Robert Donald of Brandon MS (18th), John Gilbert of Huntsville, AL (28th), Mike Cordell (25th), David Weinstein of Baton Rouge (30th), Steve Bierman (34th), Tara Snow, Lakisha Slaughter, James Robertson, Duane Fontenot, Michael Casey, Denise Pratt, Judge Leo Boothe, Connie Rice, Danny Doucet, Blake Whittington, Hoover's Bradley Hicks and Danny Williams of Fulton, MS. MCBRAYER ALMOST THERE: BJ McBrayer finished second in the $600 NO-Limit Hold'em (BBA) event winning 16k. In the end LA pro Sahel Khalili who made a last second trip to Tunica to chase points to qualify to the Global Championship ran too hot at the final table. He wanted 70 points for the stop and he started with a ring (#3 for him), 26k and the 50 points that goes with it. McBrayer (pictued courtesy of Dan @holdemradio and HPT) was stymied just short of his second ring on the circuit. Lots of points chasers littered the final results (maybe 200 as a benchmark was too low? Go here for the latest). Cody Stanford left the final table first in 9th spot with 2.3k. Connie Rice cashed again, as did Mihail Karasoulis, Steve Bierman, Aaron Lasater, and Mike Monaghan. OTHER CASHES: Jeter Brock cashed in two events. Kyle Cartwright busted 10th for a small cash in Event 5 with William Anderson among those 6 returning to play it out today. Judge Leo Boothe cashed in the $400 PLO tournament (9th) as did Josh Palmer. Good luck to Jaime Kizer who returns with 7 others today in pursuit of a ring. Will be tough sledding with Ari Engel, Blake Whittington, and Jessie Bryant in that number. OUTSIDE LOOKING IN: See link above for current Circuit Leaderboard but here are some local names on the outside of the top 50. Now the bottom of the group is at 180 points. Blake Whittington 177.5, Kevin Eyster 175 (he's been busy getting bad beat at a HPT final table--more on that below), Austin Reilly 170, Aaron Lasater 160, Justin Harvell 152.5, Lakisha Slaughter 147.5, Sean Small 142.5, Steve Bierman 142.5, Chico Pho 140, Damjan Radanov 130, Mike Monaghan 127.5, Charles Johnson 112.5, Cody Stanford 110, and Curtis Terry 102.5. Early leader for Casino Champ is Scot Wilken with 52.5 points on the stop, followed by three ring winners at 50, Jesse Jones and Donnie Phan at 47.5 points and Steve Bierman (one of four players with three cashes so far) at 45 points. |
HEARTLAND HEARTACHE AS
EYSTER EVICTED: Kevin Eyster went from the chipleader 7 handed to out in a couple of hands. Eventual winner Spenser Cramer shoved A3 o/s and Kevin had him dominated with AK. The flop brought two pair for Cramer and the beginning of the exit for Eyster. Eyster earned 25k while Spenser ended up winning almost 200k for first in the Heartland Poker Tour Event in Columbus. Picture courtesy of HPT and Dan@Holdemradio. We are told the feed showcased a friends and family vibe to the mostly Columbus, OH players including one player folding pocket 10s to a four big blind shove. |
BATON ROUGE
CHAMPIONSHIP: Wayne Solar won the trophy and the most loot. Oddly the final three players all bagged short stacks going into day two. The final table featured 2nd place Curtis Barbay, 3rd Cory Dean Bermea, 4th Mickey Joiner, 5th Lee Thibodaux, 6th Umut Utku (Day One Chipleader), and 7th Kenny Milam. Also made Day Two: Wayne Neyland, Ron Hope, Mike Flowers, Jacque Gremillion, Amber Douglas, and Ryan Westmoreland. The Last Chance Event went to Bric Allen who bested Umut Utku heads up. Jason Bullock finished third. |
BIERMAN SECOND IN
TUNICA: Another near miss for Steve Bierman on the circuit. In Event One No Limit Hold'em Double Stack (Big Blind Ante) Bierman got nipped at the finish line by Micheal Ledford. Looks like Bierman might stick around Tunica as he traveled there with the intention of doing something early and if so, staying to try to earn some points to qualify for the Global championship. Bierman added almost 13k to his bankroll and moved up to 77th in points. He needs 40 points to tie Kevin Eyster who is currently the last qualifier for the Global Championship with 175 points. Feels like players will need almost 200 points to qualify this year even with two stops left. Seems like there are a lot of gulf coasters either just in or just out and will be hustling after those points, so should be fun to track through the New Orleans stop. Ledford of Dickson, TN won 21k for first. The 65 year old earned his first ring in just his third WSOP-C cash. JW Carter, Jessie Bryant, and Justin Sharpe also cashed in the 260 player field. Stay tuned for more from Tunica Tom orrow. |
TOURNAMENT WRAP-UPS: GULF COAST SHOW-DOWN IN JERSEY: David Jackson of Jacksonville took down Shannon Shorr of Tuscaloosa heads up in an epic final table at Borgata's Main Event. Jackson overcame a huge chip deficit and sniffed out a bluff in the final hand to win over 300k. Shorr had to settle for a little over 170k. The well traveled TK Miles also cashed the event before heading to Cherokee where he finished in 19th in the Main. Winning a little under 20k in half a week. Speaking of Cherokee... CHEROKEE MAIN WRAP-UP: Also cashing deep in the Main: Lakisha Slaughter just under 20k in 15th, Josh Horton 18th 16k, and Damjan Radanov 12k in 20th. |

TWEET OF THE WEEK:Talk about a bad beat, up 3-0 in the third the Vegas Golden Knights got hammered by a phantom penalty call (a five minute major) then watched their lead get Thanos-snapped. The sharks even took the lead in regulation 4-3 before Vegas pulled one back. However, in overtime a sharks goal eliminated the young Vegas franchise. Would suck to root for the Saints, Auburn basketball, and Vegas hockey in 2019, huh? Has to be the worst year ever in blown major game deciding calls and it's only April. |

WSOP-C GLOBAL
CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE: So the last stop for points chasers is Harrahs New Orleans May ninth. You might have heard that we are giving away free seats to this event. You might want to book mark the link at the bottom of this update as it will have everybody in contention for a seat to the global championship (pssst... some of these players may have reason to play very differently than normally). The top 50 players (and all the casino champs and Main Event winners at each stop) qualify for the Global Championship at Cherokee in August. In the safe zone: at the very top is the talented and likable Hamid Izadi (pictured) of Atlanta who has cashed 21 times for almost 200k this season. Hank Sitton is in fifth place with 15 cashes for over 150k. Andrew Kelsall of Florida has 13 cashes for over 118k in the 16th spot. In the let's see how things shake out zone: Justin Sharper of Memphis is in 35th spot with over 96k and winnings and 195 points. Kevin Eyster of Lafayette is currently in (barely) with 175 points in the 48th spot. Austin Reilly is currently the first one out with 170 points. Blake Whittington has 160 points in 54th. Justin Harvell of Tennessee has 152.5 points in 60th. Sean Small 137.5 points in 72nd. Lakisha Slaughter has 122.5 points in 86th spot and Charles Johnson sits 100th with 112.5 points. Just outside the top 100 and in the got some work to do zone: Michael Monaghan, Damjan Radanov, Schulyer Thorton, Steve Bierman, Joe Hebert, Jeff Trudeau, Cody Stanford, Sley Sanchez, Curtis Terry, Steve Nusrallah, and Trace Henderson. Already qualified via Casino Champ or Main Event win: Ben Thomas, Kyle Cartwright, Heather Alcorn, and Jake Bazely. *Note sometimes there is a lag in the points totals. With a lot of these names recently/currently cashing in Cherokee (see below) it's possible these rankings have already shifted drastically. Go here to keep up. |
