What a great series run by Bally's Donn Washington, and Southern Poker's Stephen Greene. With the assist from Chad Disante.

MEDIA BLITZ CHARITY EVENT

119 entries helped smash the $20k guarantee in the $350 buy-in.

MAIN EVENT:

A total of 348 entries put up the $500 toward the $140k prizepool--smashing the $100k guarantee. Brian Kelly couldn't let John Kelley have all the fun so won the event after a four way deal was concocted (see pictured abouv=. He made $22,123. Charles "Woody" Moore received a little less from the cashier $21,414. Jodie Menard just behind in third place for $20,205. Randy Stott finished fourth wining $19,962.

Danny Doucet, James Misenheimer, Matthew Carpenter, Big Bruce Schamback, and Jack Venable rounded out the final table.

WPT AMBASSADOR ANDREW NEEME PODCAST:

We recorded this one a bit ago but we talk with Vlogger Andrew Neeme about the WPT World Championship, the Heater at the Beau Rivage, meet up games and more.  Probably one of the more high profile guests on the podcast.  He could not have been nicer or more accommodating.

GULF COAST POKER PODCAST
TEAM GCP/WPT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PROFILES PART 4:

Final two players to profile today. On our facebook we took pics of a lot of players from our region including Corey Harrison, Kevin Eyster, Trace Henderson, Jeremy Eyer, and Robert Georato who all deserve their own profiles but can only do so many. The last two we wil feature are Teddy Conner who was selected as the sole winter Minion, or as Alec Wilson dubbed him the sole Wynnion, and our Vegas host Steve Bierman. Both will be playing today.

Teddy Conner

The New Orleans resident was selected to be the first Winter Minion. The Minions is a team of WSOP Main Event players Will Souther created that investors pay for their Main buy-in to have a sweat of the action. GCP the last couple of years has helpd with the team. Will has never done this in the winter before but we took the lead on this one to get at least one player from the region in this giant 40 million guarantee tournament. Teddy who had a scheduling conflict this summer and likely would have been on the team then is a perfect first representative for GCP.

Players from the region have a great deal of respect for Teddy's game and for him as a person. Teddy's won against some talented fields doing very well in high rollers and he can also play and beat the rec heavy fields of a re-entry. Seems like the perfect playing style for this event.

The most impressive thing about Teddy's resume is the success he's had in poker has been simaltaneous to his career as a military man. The young father is all class. He can also play the game.

He's had three first places despite playing that limited schedule in the last couple of years. Recent scores include a Venetian Deep Stack (1st), Prime Social Texas Poker Championship (2nd), Orleans Summer Open (1st) and a GCP High Roller Event at Pearl River Resort (1st).

Teddy is in the top 40 of all time money winners in Louisiana and with a retirement coming up soon, he's likely going to start rapidly climbing those ranks.

Steve Bierman

Steve has been gracious enough to host GCP in his Vegas home for part of our trip out here to cover players from the region. He's lent his time, car, and energy to the cause so we figure if we are going to add another profile it's going to be of him. Steve plays today and considers the Wynn casino his home away from home. Louisiana will always be his true home.

Steve like Teddy has thrived in events loaded with good players.  He's made the final table of the WSOP National Championship--which was a bracelet event. That was a year after final tabling another bracelet event in Vegas.

Steve has gears, sometimes his opponents think he's just blasting off, but there is method to that madness. He says people just vomit chips to him because of the "hate equity" he creates at the table. Think most people would agree that you either love to play with Steve or hate to play with him as there is no in between.

Steve has 11 first place finishes including a recent one at Poker Gras 2023. He also finished second to Kane Keller during that series. He's in the top 25 of money won all time in Louisiana and ascending rapidly.
TEAM GCP/WPT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PROFILES PART 3:

A multi-part series featuring the players that GCP has sent to the WPT World Championship this year. Yesterday was a rough day for the squad as Yousef and Buddy both chipped up and got clipped in tough spots. Think Buddy who was up over 200k ran into a dude bluffing with a gut shot after flopping a set (on an ace high board gross). Today BJ and Gerald (previously featured) are firing.

Our next profiles look at two of the strongest players in the region. So strong, they battled heads up for the GCP trophy at Poker Gras. So strong, one won GCP Player of the Year and the other GCP Tour Player of the Year. They are Cody Stanford and Preston McEwen.

Preston McEwen

Murfreesboro, TN's Preston McEwen won this year's GCP Player of the Year. He's a force to be reckoned with in every tournament he plays and that means yesterday, today and tomorrow--literally. Yesterday he took second in a Venetian tournament. Pretty sure he's already bagged the MGM Grand Main Event and we will see him over there today. Then tomorrow he takes on the WPT World Championship. Let's hope he goes three for three with final tables.

When you look at the guy the first thing you see is his hair and you maybe discount him based on that and his cheerful disposition. Yeah, he's just a laid back rock dude. However, beneath those locks ticks a poker brain analyzing every spot, and behind that cheerful smile is a savage who will bluff you off your chips in a heartbeat.

Preston really started hitting poker harder in 2018 and his Hendon Mob scrolls like the longest final credits to a movie ever. He just keeps cashing. In 2023, he's already cashed more times than there are weeks in a year--and he ain't done.

He has over 1.7million in earnings over a short time with 4 over $100k scores. Three of them happened at Cherokee (1st and third in a Main and 1st in a Monster Stack).  On the felt, he's a beauty and a beast.

Cody Stanford

One of a handful players in the region we are truly grateful for and lucky to know as he really goes the extra yard to support GCP; Cody Stanford. In the last week alone he's been on two streams with our patch repping the South to the poker world.

In the second steam, he earned the praise of none other than Phil Galfond. Nice to get that approval from an online genuis that recognizes the artistry that can be found in a live poker game by players like Cody.

He's got some speech play and a cheerful disposition that can put his opponents on their back foot  but then he lowers the hammer.

Cody regularly attends as many of our events as he can and is always willing to support them. The Tupelo, Mississippi native is 8th all time in money won in the state, and is really just getting started.

While Preston has bragging rights in that he has Cody pipped for total cashes in 2023, Cody did win their sole heads up match at the GCP Poker Gras Main Event.

Cody's success, like Preston's, is mostly in the last few years with a end credit type hendon mob of his own. He's won over a million with 17 first place finishes to his name and 39 more final tables.
TEAM GCP/WPT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PROFILES PART 2:

A multi-part series featuring the players that GCP has sent to the WPT World Championship this year. Today two players Yousef Aly and Buddy Villaluz will begin their journey. We profiled Yousef yesterday and today we profile Buddy along with BJ McBrayer (playing tomorrow).

Buddy Villaluz

There may be no more friendlier a poker globe trotter than one of our favorite Candadians. Buddy, along with his buddy, Barry, make sure we always have a great group of players supporting GCP events even deep in the South from the Great White North. We've enjoyed getting to know Buddy and his spirit of adventure and thirst for learning.

He comes to Philadelphia, MS and takes tours we've never heard of, learns the history, attends fairs and truly squeezes the max out of his travel experience. Did we mention he can play some poker too.

"Bingo Buddy” retired early from his career as an IBM software engineer. He has played a couple of million hands online. He is the founder of the Global Poker Community group on Facebook with over 7,000 members.

He now loves to travel around the world playing poker, especially Seniors Events. While most of his profits came from online poker, he has over $200,000 HendonMob live earnings and 12 flags!

You are as likely to see buddy at a GCP event, as well as a big buyin event like this in Vegas, Malta, Asia... you name it.

BJ McBrayer

The owners of GCP have played with, and known BJ, for a LONG time. In fact, he's been winning pots off of us from the first tournaments we started playing. In that time period a lot of flashier players have come and gone and BJ just keeps trucking along solidly winning and somehow maintaining a low profile too.

In the spirit of that, we don't try to blow him up too much, but we have a deep respect for his game. Much like his friend Jeremy Gaubert aka the Chemist, he seems to spend more time in a payout line than most people spend in a buy-in line.

BJ had intended to play today but now will fire in Flight C.

For those unaware Alabama features some all time great players like Shannon Shorr over 12.15m in earnings and Hoyt Corkins. Not to mention Donovan Dean, Mark Davis and Josh Palmer. Near the top of the list in earning is the unassuming BJ with 1.437m in winnings.

BJ has eight first places finishers attributed to him according to Hendon Mob: Biloxi, Tunica, New Orleans, Pearl River, St. Louis and Vicksburg. Hammering every corner of our region and thriving in GCP tournaments too

He's been just under a $100K payout twice with $98,874 and $96,701 scores. He has a WPT top ten finish already under his belt.

Both players are drawing live to a deep run and a big pay day. Will be fun to follow.
Team GCP/WPT World Championship Part 1:

We are just a couple of days from being able to root on the players who won their way into the $40 Million WPT World Championship via GCP Tour Championship, Mystery Tickets and WPT satellites we ran at Pearl River Resorts.

Going to do profiles of each of the players repping our brand and our region. Part 1: Yousef Aly and Gerald Inman

Yousef Aly

Last March we had our first every GCP Tour Championship and GCP partnering with WPT added a WPT World Championship seat to the prize pool. Per agreement we ran satellites to qualify more people in. Please let us know if this is something you'd like to see next year.

Yousef Aly plowed through that field of qualifiers and bested a loaded final table ending up with the seat and the one of a kind custom trophy. Thanks to Maker's Mark for making that happen along with some other added prizes.

Yousef told us he's been dedicating himself to studying with this tournament his sole focus since winning the GCP Tour Championship. He's since cashed in multiple WSOP circuit events.

Aly is from Coopertown, TN and has been cashing on the tournament scene for only a couple of years. His first score was also his biggest winning almost $120k in the Cherokee Main Event at the very end of 2021. Since then he's won more than double that in just two years.

Yousef is known to be chatty at the table and likes to tease his opponents but always wears a smile while doing it.

Gerald Inman

The Vestavia Hills, Alabama native has been a regular at GCP events at Pearl River.

In fact, before the series "blew" up we have grainy pictures from our first ever stop (pictured on the left)  there of Gerald having fun at a final table.

Gerald won the Mystery Ticket aka the Golden Ticket during the Pearl River Milly Resort opening event. The way that ticket was drawn was everybody on day two had a shot a making the high hand in the room.

Video here.

He won the high hand at his table, the very first drawn, and somehow had to fade the room with not a steller holding just an Ace high flush.  And fade it he did.

Gerald is definitely a GCP player as his last seven tournament cashes have come at our events. He's a great guy and an easy person to root for so we will be tracking him with great interest. His hendon mob earnings suggest he's an underdog to the field but many great poker champions were unheard of before their first big breakthrough.

Let's go Gerald and Yousef!  Check out our Facebook page when the tournament starts for more updates.
GCP TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP:

At this point probably a majority of eligible participants of the GCP Tour Championship have been determined. Players may play the Tour Championship if they have finished in the top ten of any GCP side event or top twenty of any GCP Main Event--as long as players finished in the money. For example, if nine were paid in an event and a player finished 10th he would not qualify despite finishing in the top ten.

Players in GCP covered events like the two series at National Harbor and the Heater at the Beau Rivage are also eligible to play based on finishes in those events. In the event of a chop, any player in the chop will be eligible for the Tour Championship even if the total number of the chop exceeds the number of slots. For example, say one of our Main Events is randomly chopped 21 ways; all will qualify.

The Mystery Ticket event at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, is treated like a GCP Main Event and thus the top 20 players are eligible.  Our events at Bally's Shreveport like the Texas Stack in April where we partner with Southern Poker are also included.

A complete list of players who have already qualified is here.  We will periodically update this list. And by periodically we mean will update it at least once more.

Many players qualified multiple times with Dustin Stewart qualifying TEN times and Jaymie Virtusio NINE times so far. Other than bragging rights and fatter wallets players do not benefit from qualifying multiple times. Dustin and Jaymie both managed to get to that number in just three different series. Alec Wilson earned 6 invites over four different GCP series to tie him with Danny Calway-Fagen for third.

Behind Jaymie in qualifying the most times for females was a tie between Morgan McBrayer, Chris Read, Prissy Giroir, and Kim Crawford with four a piece.

Over150 players qualified multiple times out of the 700+ total players who qualified for this event. Notables to qualify this year include Jeff "Boski" Sluzinski, who won our tournament in the summer at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, WPT Greatest of All Time Darren Elias, WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer, international crusher Farid Jattin, WPT multi time winner Bin Weng, WPT Champion Mark Davis and fellow crusher Brock Wilson. Fortunately, for the rest of you qualifiers most of those players are not expected to attend.

Remember qualifiers for this event started with last year's GCP Tour Championship in March. This year's event will be March 13th at Pearl River Resorts just before our next Milly in Philly series.

Last year we added a $10,400 WPT World Championship seat to the Prize Pool and added custom prizes sponsored by Maker's Mark.  Look for more of the same this year.

MULTIPLE INVITES:

10 Dustin Stewart 5 Preston McEwen 4 Kimberly Crawford
9 Jaymie Virtusio 5 Trace Henderson 4 Morgan McBrayer
6 Alec Wilson 4 Aaron Thomas 4 Priscilla Giroir
6 Daniel Calway-Fagen 4 Charles Brady 4 Randall Anderson
5 Alan Close 4 Christina Read 4 Richard Campbell
5 David Gregg 4 Jerry Monroe 4 Robbie Matthews
5 Hiep Doan 4 Kane Keller 4 Walker Miskelly
5 Matthew Higgins

WPT FINAL TABLE FINALLY AIRING:

Bally's sports channels (and other stations you find the WPT on) are broadcasting Mark Davis' win at Seminole Hard Rock. Mark had an epic battle with Darren Elias the WPT Greatest of All Time.
Nobody has won more WPT titles than Darren and that means nobody has won more heads up WPT clashes than Darren.

Mark had to earn his $1 million prize for first place. Although, we were sad to see the producers decided to edit out an epic hand--Mark calling with King high in a pot that the heads up match pivoted on. Go to our archived podcast with Mark to get more details on his run to first place.  Andrew Barfield, a doctor on the coast, also made the telecast so it was a double dose of Gulf Coast players.

Barfield repped the GCP patch in the WSOP Main Event telecast for us last year. Mark in his interviews for this event also repped a GCP hoodie. Thanks to both players, we are tremendously grateful. Mark has proactively reached out to us to multiple times to and try help promote poker tournaments in the are. He's all about growing the game.

WINTER MINIONS AKA THE WYNNIONS AND MORE:

Looking for a sweat this winter? The WPT will be having the $40 Million Guarantee World Championship at the Wynn in December.

As most of you know GCP partnered with the WPT to send six players to the event--so we thought why not add some more. The folks who won their way in via the Tour Championship, WPT satellites and Mystery tickets include Tour Champion Youssef Aly, BJ McBrayer, GCP Tour POY Cody Stanford, GCP POY Preston McEwen, Gerald Inman, and Buddy Villaluz.

We will be covering them live in Vegas during the event. So, why not send and cover a small group of Minions too? Will Souther gave us the permission to do this winter edition.  Normally we send a team to the WSOP Main Event every summer under his leadership.

First up for the minions is military man Teddy Conner. At the time of this post, he's already been funded $7600 of the $10,400 needed.

If Teddy is fully funded we will then add more players to the Winter Minions team. Shoot us a mesage if you'd like to be on the team or want to invest.

And thank you to Alec Wilson for the cool idea for the logo for the team and his execution of it.

POKER PLAYERS IN NEED:

We don't like to share GoFundMes often as we don't want it to appear we have vetted the cause.

When we do, our stance is donor beware. That said these two GoFundMes help players that have attended and supported our events.  They have also been shared by third parties who have reached out to us to spread awareness.  Feel terrible for them.

Greg James is from Mississippi and has been given a really bad break with a malignant brain tumor diagnosis.

Ruth Hall, an advocate for women's poker and a former GCP Female Player of the Year nominee, has been battling a range of serious health issues and recently discovered her husband has Stage 4 cancer.

We wish them all of the best and know that sometimes health issues and costs can outrun even the most careful planners.

WSOP-C CHOCTAW WRAP-UP:

TAI TAKES SECOND:

Great to see friend of GCP Tai Cao win second in the $1100 NLHE SuperStack event winning almost $34k. Despite the large buy-in this event attracted over 250 players. The Lafayette, LA rounder recorded his biggest WSOP score and best finish.  I'm sure he was thinking of his recently departed friend Ross Leitz as the tournament progressed. Not an easy road to second as he had to get past notables Nick Pupillo (3rd) and Chris Staats (4th).

MORE RESULTS:

Tomas Teran of Lake Charles, LA won almost 12k finishing second in Event #1 Monster Stack.

Jordan Russell of Pontotoc, MS placed seventh in Event #2 PLO for $1337. Luther Harris of Marietta, MS also in the money.

William Sadka of Bossier City, LA and Davin Jones of Griffin, GA each made the money in Event #3 $250 6 Handed.

Wayne Ricks of Bossier City pocketed over 1k for 8th place in Event #4 $300 NLHE Bounty Event #6.

Former Pearl River Main Event champion Schuyler Thornton won almost $14k for second in the $500 Big O Superstack.

Bonnie Weitzel finished fifth in the $300 Twilight Event #7 and 24th in the Finale Event #15.

MAIN EVENT:

Derek Normand of Lake Charles finished in 23rd winning $8.5k. John Rubin of Marietta, GA won almost 15k for 13th. Dan Lowery took home over $12k for 16th.

Jared Ingles won $7.3k for 27th. Michael Lech won $3.5k for 76th. Also cashing, Louisianians Jame Misenheimer and Frederic Roetker.

Johnny Tang of Birmingham prevailed in heads up play versus Derek Normand of Lake Charles in the early morning to win more than $72k. Normand earned $45k for second. James Atkinson already won one GCP trophy this series, and the Atlantean came up just short in the Main winning almost $33k for third.

John Jacob of Shreveport added another final table to his resume and over $24k to his bank account with his fourth place finish. Curtis Terry always seems to be in the money and last night was no different winning over $18k for fifth.

Justin Grider proved he's no dusty grinder with yet another deep run this series (6th $13.8k) and Denise Pratt fresh off a WSOP bracelet win was last woman sitting (7th $10.6k). Alan Sacks of Charlotte and Alan Close of Scarborough, ON, Canada rounded out the final table.

Trace Henderson triumphed over a loaded field trying to get that last minute score before heading out. He did do a deal with Robert Henderson (no relation), Paul Brooks and Dawn Smith. Also, in the money Lap Ng, the formidable Patsy Henry, Stephen Bierman, Matt Higgins and Nathan Willis.

MILLY IN PHILLY RESULTS:

FREEZEOUT:

With the robust air conditioning here it almost feels like every tournament is a freezeout but we are talking about one of the more prestigious events we run every stop. Dustin Stewart and Danny Calway-Fagen chopped the Freezeout both winning $17,500. Both players are humbled and argued over who would have to take the winner's photo and get the trophy.

They've also both been very successful at GCP Events perhaps not getting the credit their results warrant due to their humility. Jaymie Virtusio finished third for $7,500. Frank Wyville fourth for $5k with our friend from the north Elizabeth Bennett also cashing in fifth.

NIGHTLY I:

After a lengthy final table the Nightly combatants agreed to a chop and once again Chico Pho finished second at a GCP event. Frederick McLam of Jasper, Georgia claimed first. Travis Lusby of Baton Rouge and Nicholas Prejeant of Mandeville also earned healthy pieces of the split. Good to see Kevin Grinder, Heath Smith, Donald Marffray, Tim Lenox, and Jaden Burns also in the money.

LADIES:

Could it have been anybody else but GCP Female Player of the Year Jaymie Virtusio? She adds another trophy to her collection after coming from way back to beat new on the scene Josye Bowen heads up for the title. Kim Kilroy of Canada, third.

SENIORS:

David Digesu became an elated Senior's champion after a four way chop that included Jeter Brock, William Latta, and Mark Armstrong. Each made over $6.6k. Elliot Howze finished fifth for $2707. GCP Love of Poker Award winner Judy LeBland once again was the highest finishing female in the field just making the money.

ROOKIES:

Justin Hart won the event after the top four chop this one too. They each made just under 4k which will go toward their total for the next Rookies event. Nikolaus Young, Patsy Henry and William Holcomb split up the loot.

MILLER TIME AT THE MILLY IN PHILLY:

Erik Miller of Memphis, TN outlasted Gerald Stogner in the early hours to win Event One's Bag Bonus Myster Ticket. Miller's take was over $63k and included the signature GCP Pearl River trophy. Stogner of Kokomo, Mississippi won over $38 for second place.

Four Tennesseans made the final table with another Dylan Lemery of Chattanooga making the unofficial final table winning just under $5k for 10th. The highest finishing lady Jessica Roberts (8th $7,539) continued her hot streak with another deep run in a GCP event. On the heels of a top three in the Poker Gras Main Event last week. Miller, Danny Calway-Fagen (seventh $9,506), and third place Ronald Sharp ($28,519) represented the Volunteer state well.

Mississippi was represented by Stogner and Branda Rogers (9th $5900). Rogers technically lasted the same amount as Roberts as both fell to the pocket Kings of Kirby Henshaw (Sulligent, AL, 6th $12,456) in the same hand. Louisiana accounted for the final two representatives at the final table with John Jacob (4th $21,307) and Charles Brady (5th $16,062).

The Mystery Ticket started out day two of the event with the high hand in the room winning the Golden prize of a WPT World Championship seat. Gerald Inman, who missed out an drawing for a Freezeout by viture of not being in the room, ended up lucky this time. His Ace high flush, dealt to the first table, miracously held on as every other table failed to produce a better hand. Inman told us he's playing the seat.

Kane Keller of Reserve, Louisiana was the only person to bag four times. Keller, like Roberts, came in hot from Poker Gras, and kept bagging and winning. His total equaled $9,200 (two $600 Main Event seats + $3,000 more for the third bag + $5,000 more for the fifth bag).

Ninety-five total players cashed. Our highest finishing international guest this time was Alan Close of Canada who made day two.

7 CLANS UPDATE: SEALE OF APPROVAL:  JACOB SEALE WINS DOUBLE BAG BONUS EVENT 1:

Getting married the next weekend Jacob Seale said he didn't have many more poker tournaments left in him so he made the best of it. Maybe winning this one will give him the seal of approval to play more. The former pro took down Event 1 after making a deal with Dustin Stewart heads up.  Seale won $23k and Stewart $20k.  Third place for 12k ended up being GCP Award favorite Preston McEwen.

Trace Henderson's fourth place run is fitting as he and Dustin have been crushing GCP events since our very beginning.  Great to see results here for them as well.  We are trying to get Hendon Mob to rank players by GCP results and you gotta figure the top four will all be ranked.

CHARLES LEROI THE KING OF THE MILLY IN PHILLY:

Charles Leroi of St. Louis prevailed against a field of 812 and won $80,837 in the Main Event. The prize pool eclipsed $400k.

Leroi didn't play heads up with Edward Allen for too long. Leroi entered with the chiplead lost it and then came back to win. Leroi has a lot of experience winning as this marked his eighth first place. Leroi got to celbrate was his biggest win ever.

Edward Allen of Hoover, AL also earned his biggest cash to date with his second place finish for $48,720.

Rigo Vangerelli of Ackworth, GA made it 3 for 3 in the top 3 of players earning their biggest score winning $36,134 for third,

Jay Bishop 4th place payout of $26,796 was not his biggest score. He's had multiple bigger wins including a first in Pearl River for over $88k. Jay's won over $200k at Gulf Coast Poker Milly in Philly events since 2022 and has to be a candidate for GCP Tour Player of the Year (award to be given at Poker Gras Oct. 5 - 15th at Harrahs New Orleans).

BJ McBrayer finished fifth for $20,300 and earned bragging rights in his marriage as his wife Morgan place 11th for $6,090. Morgan epitomized birthday good luck as she stayed in tournament throughout her birthday and then busted a minute after midnight.

Jonathan Wisbey of New Orleans (6th $15,428), Alec Wilson of Pensacola (7th $12,180), Douglas Segers of Vicksburgh (8th $9,338), Charles Brady (9th $7,105) and Sean Sinclair (10th $6,090) rounded out the unofficial final table.

Curtis Barbay of Baton Rouge finished 13th for almost 5k, but maybe more importantly to him, outlasted his son Mark Barbay (71st ~$1.2k).

FREEZEOUT A CLOSE CALL AGAIN:

Alan Close, one of the many Canadians who make the trip to Pearl River, went back to back in this event winning $22,500 for first place. In March, he earned $20,680 for first in the same event. He previously won over 20k at Pearl River in SuperStack tournament. His recent success has to have him in the Mix for GCP Tour Player of the Year (award to be given at Harrahs New Orleans during Poker Gras Oct. 5 - 15th).

Michael Lins who came up and registered at the start of day two finished second for $12,200.

It was a crazy final table as Close eliminated the final three players in three straight hands. A couple of hands before that it was a double knockout meaning he busted everybody in the money in short order.

Aaron Thomas finished third for $7,200, Walker Miskelly fourth for $4,700, Matt Higgins fifth for $2,200 and Alan "Tank" Downey sixt for $1,200.

ROOKIES II:

Alan Silchuk of Nashville, TN won the second Rookies event of the week. After a chop his first place cash of $3,869 did not graduate him to non-Rookie status. He's still (barely) under the cap.

Also still under the cap is "KJ" Keighobad Jafarzadegan of Tuscaloosa with his fourth cash in the last year at Pearl River (5th $1,167). That somehow includes a 17k second place finish in the March SuperStack.

Jermaine Underwood Gadsden, GA won $4k for second place while Ronald Hagen (Ocean Springs, MS third Rookies cash) and Stephen Smith (Laurel, MS) each earned $3,804 in the four way chop.
NEED FEEDBACK:  TEAM GCP AT THE WYNN?

GCP is considering mimicking the Monkey's Minions format that Poker Monkey Will Souther uses for the WSOP Main Event. Ours will be for the WPT World Championship event at the Wynn, Las Vegas in December. (By the way, speaking of Monkey he updated his blog and that's always a fun read; go to THE POKER MONKEY ).

For those familiar with the Minions there will be slight tweaks but generally the same. We are looking to raise funds to put three or more players in the event. Plase contact us by email if you are interested in being an investor and or player. Shares will be $200 and 52 shares will fund a player ($10,400 buy-in).  GCP will not earn anything on the team (no rake or fees) other than through shares we purchase. Just want to give our region a fun sweat. As we already will be there covering the folks who satellited in through us (and Yousef Aly who won the GCP Tour Championship) we decided why not add some more players to follow.

Depending on interest level and feedback we will do it (so email us if you want to buy shares). For this team, focus will be on players from the region and we aim to put in players who have a shot to make a run in a tournament but maybe have not had the opportunity yet to do so for such a large buyin. We are looking to offer this to at least onc GCP Award winner (given out at Poker Gras Harrahs New Orleans, October 5th through the 15th).

If we do it (and we are pretty sure we will) our first player will be Teddy Conner of New Orleans.  Teddy has almost $400k in cashes, 5 first place finishes with 3 of those since 2021.  Teddy is soon to retire from the armed service and plans on playing a lot more poker full time.  The other spots are wide open.
GOLDEN TICKET
JUNE 8 -11, 2023

Congrats to Jeff Boski who won our Golden Ticket event at MGM Grand Las Vegas.  Boski took first place and bagged one of our Mystery Ticket prizes.  Full wrap up to come.

MILLY IN PHILLY RESULTS:

MONROE BACK 2 BACK:

Jerry Monroe, maybe the most unassuming crusher in the region, won the same event, the Super Stack, he won in March. Last time he earned over $28k this time just under $24k. With his second title he has to be in contention for GCP Tour Player of the year. One of many awards to be given out at Poker Gras (Harrahs NOLA, October 5 - 15).

With 398 players the Super Stack had a total prize pool of just under $130k. Jerry made a deal with Trace Henderson as the chip leader to get the victory. Trace also earned almost $24k. Chris Read cashed yet again and was last woman sitting winning $4.2k for 7th. She's likely in contention for Female Player of the Year again having won it previously.

Edward Smith finished third for almost $13k. Anthony Whatley (4th $9.4k), John Humphries (5th $7.1k), Kevin Grinder (6th $4.2k), Theodore Thomas (7th $3.2k), Ryan Gafford (9th $2.5k) and Robert Henderson (10th $2k) completed the final table.

REID WINS SENIORS II:

Ralph Reid, of nearby Meridian, earned $5k on the dot after an 8 way chop in the seniors. Second through eighth each got $4,193 and $4,192 in the deal. They included Thomas Corder, Randy Davenport, Hiep Doan, Bobby Noven, Harinam Khalsa, Matthew Knigh and Brian Henry. The 174 total players more than double the $20k Guaranteed Prize Pool.
Also among those cashing Huey Hulin, Robert Veazey, Ronnie Hope, Curtis Terry and David Jorgensen.

HIEP DOAN'S HUMPDAY HOORAY:

Hiep Doan of New Orleans, won another trophy at Pearl River, by claiming first in the NLHE Hump Day (Event 9). Hiep earned $13k for first place. Donna Lewis finished second for $6.8k in a four way deal. Alan Close (third) and local Nekoda Foster (fourth) also made 6.8k.

Salvador "Buddy" Villaluz finished 5th for $3.5k. Social Media Contest winner Gladys Corbin (6th $2.5k), Nathan Proctor (7th $2k), Simon Philip (8th $1.5k), Kevin Bourg (9th $1k) and Sam Morakonda (10th $1k) completed the final table.

Also cashing in order: Jason Parson, Clyde Duet, James Robertson, Nancy Ezman and James Mitchell JR. There were 148 total players in the event.
MILLY IN PHILLY RESULTS:

CODY STANFORD: HIGHROLLER, CHAMPION, AND HIGHROLLER CHAMPION:

Great wrap-up video by Eric Geller over on our Facebook here. A loaded final table in the $1500 Highroller event saw Cody Stanford get to heads up with Dustin Stewart. They both won $27,500 evenly but Cody by virture of the bigger stack took the trophy.

Curtis Terry, unlucky in third, but won $14,000. Josh Palmer fourth for $9k. BJ McBrayer 5th for 7k. Rounding out the the final eight: Steve Meyers (6th 6k), Robbie Matthews (7th $5k) and Chris Read (yet again 8th for 4k). We told you it was a loaded finalt able.

TAG TEAM BACK AGAIN:

Looking to spice things up we added a Tag Team tournament which featured twin sisters (and probably the best dressed in the event Charlene Smith and Charlette Jackson 6th place), spouses, friends, and last second partners. The team of Danny Pelegrin and Eric Jolly outlasted Jay Bishop and JW Carter in heads up play to win the title. Ralph Robinson and Rigo Vangarelli finished third just ahead of father son duo Judge Leo Boothe and Wyatt Boothe.

Charles Brady and the Ginja Ninja Jason Hewitt, the married Eskridges (Jason and Brenda), and the married Ezmans also cashed. Meanwhile GCP duo Wild Bill and Gene D put a bounty on their own heads but bubbled the event.

Melissa Smith said she'd win the bounty and she did. Smith teamed with Jeff Copeland both of whom made the trip from St. Louis. With 137 entrant it created a prize pool around $26k.

GREGG NIGHTLY CHAMP TIMES TWO:

We added three nightly tournaments to the schedule and David Gregg won two of them. Gregg earned $3.3k and $2.97k. Morgan McBrayer the third. Robert Donald cashed the first two. Dustin Stewart who made a heads up chop in the Highroller did so with Mogan as well. Other notables in the money: Dallas Pirman, Sabrathia Smith, Charles Esque, Luke Martin, Geri Bowen, and Trace Henderson.
MILLY IN PHILLY RESULTS:

AARON PATE BIG MONSTER STACK WINNER:

Pate didn't have much live tournament experience prior to the Big Monster Stack but he had enough to take it down. He made an almost even heads up deal with Daniel Bonet but got the trophy and the dollar extra based on stack size. Ginette Joron who had a heck of a seris finished third as the last woman sitting. Did Ginette a Canadian play her way into a dark horse candidate for GCP Female Player of the Year? Maybe... we will find out October 5 through the 15th at Poker Gras, Harrahs New Orleans during the GCP Awards ceremony.

Robert Warner finished 4th for just over $9k. Tupelo's Walker Miskelly made it to the 5th for a touch under $7k. The loaded final table also included Josh Palmer, Shannon Sizemore, Cody Stanford and Jerry Monroe. With 452 entries there was over $128k in the prize pool.

MCALEB SIZZLES IN SIZZLER TRIUMPH:

Mitchell McCaleb (pictured left) won $14,850 after dispatching Frederick Mclam in heads up play. The biggest score to date for the youngster and his first title. The 250 entrants generated a prize pool of $60k. Fredrick Mclam won $9,150 as the runner up. Barry Usery (3rd $6540), Gerald Williams (4th $5250), Teddy Conner (we got an announcement to make that will involve him... soon 5th $3750), Josh Fanguy (6th $2700), Sabrathia Smith (7th $2100), Errol Eagen (8th $1680), Robert Griffin (not the third finished 9th $1200) and Randall Anderson (10th $1050) rounded out the top ten. Chad Melerine, Jody Millsaps, Nekoda Foster, Walker Miskelly, Preston Croft, Jeff Copeland, Dallas Pirman and Peace Marvel were among the notables to also cash.

CHANDA-VISION FIRST PLACE PLACE:

Chanda Davis won over $3600 for first place besting Pearl River regular Jo Cain heads up. Jo won $2250 for second. Barbara Williams finished third for $1469. The remaining in the money players in the ladies including Chris Read, Morgona McBrayer, Ginette Joron and Christina Pett.

EASY FOR LEE IN SENIORS I:

David Lee won the first seniors event of the series for $6,570. We believe a deal had been made judging by the payouts 1 - 9. Everybody received over 2.6k. Michael Corchran got $4.566 and credit for second. Bryne Wilson won $4.1k for third. Leanard Anderson, Richard Dembski, Buddy Nix, Wiliam Dixon, Rob Hubka and Alan Silchuk all got some of the good stuff. Also cashing social media contest winner Patsy Herny, David "King of the Nightlies" Gregg, and Chad Marsh.

LUSBY WINS ROOKIES:

With 211 players in the rookies event first place ended up just under 9k. Travis Lusby of Baton Rouge took down the title. That victory still didn't graduate him out of the Rookies category but it's close. Somebody suggested Rookie event wins should not count agains the Rookies totals. Hmm... we need to think on that, but it makes sense.

Kimberly Crawford finished second for $5,501. Chris Hoven third for $3,830. In order Kevin Nezat, Martin Horvath, Nathan Machen, Jack Washburne III, Peter Horn Jr. Jeffrey Work and Michael Myers rounded out the top ten. Notables also cashing Curtis Hitt, Keighobad Jafarzadegan, Adam Crump annd Ronald Ellison.

MILLY IN PHILLY EVENT 1:

After an 11 way chop Kevin Sumrall took home the trophy and the most money.  Sumrall received over $35k.

Carl Peterson, Richard Campbell, Damon Tucker, Nathan Machen, Hayes Tisdale, Mark Barbay, James Frye, Mousey Davis, Steve Meyers and Henry "Skip" Gill earned $25k each.

Jeremy McKissick went out one hour before the deal winning just under $7k.

Kody Britt went out 111th but securing that near min-cashed kept him in the mix to win the Golden Ticket.

This year's Mystery Ticket was a $10,400 seat at the WPT World Championship in December in Las Vegas.

Kody won it with the high hand in the room as his King Eight made Kings full of Queens.

Kody immediately had offers to buy the seat.

TOURNAMENT POKER RETURNS TO THE GULF COAST!

It's been a minute since the Million Dollar Heater in January. Thankfully, Harrahs New Orleans has confirmed Poker Gras will return August 17 - 27.  We are excited to be back.  Will Feature the annual Gulf Coast Poker Awards.

Big thanks to Joella McIntosh for helping make it happen despite the renovation and construction Harrahs NOLA has been undergoing. We know tournament players have been desperate to have an event closer to home.

For a complete run-down of most of our Fall events head over to our Tour Page and scroll down.

DAYS AWAY FROM BRINGING THE GULF COAST TO VEGAS!

We are excited to get Las Vegas, to work with the MGM Grand, and are grateful to Steven Pique and his team for giving us a shot to bring our brand to summer camp.  Very honored and humbled by how many of ya'll that are making the trip out west to support us.

PEARL RIVER SCHEDULE HAS DROPPED:

We've gotten a lot of schedule questions and requests and this schedule has a lot of answers:

Tag Team event? We are finally giving it a go. Who will t'win it? Charlene and Charlette asking ya'll.  Or maybe it will be Walker and Jess (pictured left).

More Rookies and more Seniors? Okay.

Mixed Games? Told if the Meet Up Game (MUG) in the cash room is well attended by our Mixed Games players more mixed games might be on the menu in the future. Even better you'll actually get to play with some of the folks who are normally off the felt or on the other side of it.

How about a nightly? How about three? Can you answer a question with a question? Why can't you?

Now, we didn't find a spot for PLO (because of all the new things we are trying) but... if that MUG before the series goes well might be PLO and more down the line.

Something new for that opening event? How about we add our Mystery Ticket format (patent pending) with an awesome Golden Ticket prize...

What's the Golden Ticket prize? How about a $10,400 WPT World Championship seat.

How does it work? Will function very similar to our event at MGM Grand June 8 - 11. Make the money on day two and start the day off with a Golden Sweat...

Go here to see it for yourself SCHEDULE  :
GOLDEN TICKET STRUCTURE:

GOLDEN TICKET TO GOLDEN TICKET?

Huge thanks to Mister Apple who has partnered with GCP to put up a seat for the $500 GCP Golden Ticket event in Las Vegas.

The $250k Guaranteed event will mark our first tournament out of the region. Come join us June 8 -11, and be a part of the first ever Golden Ticket format. There will be one winner for just about every day two table.  Each winner will have a shot to draw the Golden Ticket.

Look for the social media contest to start later (still to come) on our FACEBOOK page which will include consolation prizes from Mister Apple as well. Free to enter, just need to follow @GCPNet on Twitter or our Facebook page. More details to come there.

MONKEY'S MINIONS ARE BACK:

Will Souther aka Monkey a few years ago put together a little team to play in the WSOP Main Event.  The team has grown each year and now has become a yearly tradition offering sweats to investors.  With multiple players making featured tables and telecasts, and a few top 200 type runs, this year's edition looks poised for greatness. The World Series of Poker is just over a month away and the first three Minions have beeen named. WPT Champion Mark Davis, top 20 female in the world Jaymie Virtusio, and last Minion Standing from last year GCP's own Wild Bill Phillips.

Search Facebook for Monkey's Minions for info to be an investor (really helps the cause for future consideration to be a player too).  Have to get approved to join the group. After the first three players are near fully funded additional players will be added to the squad.

WSOP-C TUNICA MAIN EVENT:

TRACE HENDERSON WINS:

As usual with any big tournament in the region it's hard to be impartial with a lot of folks who are easy to root for and that certainly includes winner Trace Henderson.  Trace took down his second circuit ring and one of his bigger paydays of $132,846 after beating Steve McCluskey heads up. Trace keeps this up he might well find his way on our list of Who's Who in the region. McCluskey made $82,102 for second.

Marshall White, as usual with him, was deep in the thick of it but had to settle for third this time. Marshall won $58,220. Dale Humphrey of Rainbow City, AL won $23,125 for sixth. Brian Wurzburg of Memphis $17.6k for seventh.

Some other rooting interests finished near the top including; Walker Miskelly ninth for almost $11k; Chase Turner 11th $8.7k; Kyle Cartwright 15th 7.2k; Chris Hight (man knows how to floor and how play) 16th $6.1k, and Michael Esquivel 17th 6.1k

WINNERS WINNING AND WYNNING ALL-OVER:

BIERMAN WYNNING:

Steve Bierman continues his Wynning ways now a reg in a Las Vegas casino. It seems like the former Harrahs NOLA reg has settled into his Vegas home by living his new NFL team's motto "Just Wynn, baby."

His most recent wynn  was for $30,303. Why do we keep saying Wynn? He's exclusively cashed at the Wynn seven times since late February for just about $50k. This is his fifth first place since August with four of them at the... Wynn.

VIRTUSIO AND SHORR HARD ROCKING:

Jaymie Virtusio earned over $28k after a deal was made in the $400 Deep Stack $50k Touranment at The Seminole Hard Rock casino. Jaymie seems to be the leader for the Gulf Coast Poker Female Player of the Year award at this point, no?

Alabama rounder Shannon Shorr won his third Hard Rock trophy in the $10k Eight Handed No Limit Hold'em event. Another $260k in the pocket for Shorr that followed a downswing in his poker career. This takes his lifetime winnings over $11 million.

GEORATO GETTING IT:

Rob Georato, pictured left, had been on one of the longest downswings of his poker career and that came to a halt with a $32,193 first place payday in the Bonita Springs Poker Room $800 buy-in tournament.

A victory that is one for the good guys. We always love to see Rob at our events and the Florida pro is always a threat. Probably nobody has a better attitude when dealing with the variance of live poker.
BALLY'S TEXAS STACK SERIES PRESENTED BY SOUTHERN POKER AND GCP WRAPUP:

ROY'S KIDS MEDIA BLITZ:

This "For Charity" event had a survivor format with an auto chop at 10%. It rewarded the top 11 players with over $1000. Nam Dao, Jason Harrison, Alfred Chenowith, Christopher Lettow, Nicholas Puritt, John Kelley, Robert Warren, Chase Cordova, Jhonny Donnelly, Joshua Emory, and Brend Young all survived.

20K ROUNDUP:

Jacob Wilson took down first place and over 7k after a conversation between the final three players. Judge Leo Boothe ($6.5k) and John Jacob ($6.1k) ended up second and third after an ICM calculation.
Interesting note about Wilson. He had not won in his first 18 cashes (three second place finishes). His last three cashes have all been wins though.

Also at the final table Bobby Hicks, Lam Hunh, Logan Hoover, David Williams, Matthew Gallagher, Charles Hubbard.

Sarah Ortego, Mark Davis, Wyatt Boothe, Edward Staples, Clay Henry, Luther Moss, Robert Warren and James Farmer also made the money. So too, Richard Blake, William Journeycake and Richar Artificavitch.

SHERIFF'S BOUNTY:

Pat Lacy won a seat to the Main Event of this series in one of our social media contests. That motivated the Canadian grinder to make the trip to Shreveport and he was rewarded with first place and the most money after a deal.

He earned $5,000. Also in the deal Michael Ferguson, Michael Jones, Felip Avalar, Matthew Gallagher, and Edward Staples who each earned $2,612. Also cashing, Clint Bordelon, Leo Vladez, Clay Henry, Daniel Roop, Rebekah Crosby, Rachel Peavy, Roscoe Bennet and others.

TEXAS STACK:

James Misenheimer (pictured above) of Benton, LA got the best of it in a three way deal. He earned $23,647 and the crystal trophy. Jacob Seale finished second earning just a little less ($23k), so did third place finisher Lam Huynh ($21k). Kenneth Biggs just missed the chop winning 11k for fourth.

Danny Doucet, Mihael Karsoulis, Mary Fowler, Gil George Joe Choy Simmons, and Derek Normand completed the final table.
MILLY IN PHILLY MAIN EVENT:

CHOCHELES WINS THE CHEESE:

David Chocheles who has a tough couple of years found victory in the Main Event with a win over Charles Westbrook in heads up action. David earned over $86k for first which is his biggest tournament cash. Westbrook earned $51k for second.

Local favorite Jay Bishop finished third, winning $38k, and just missing out on winning a second Milly in Philly Main Event.

The Guarantee of $350k was smashed with 874 players in the field. 91 individuals cashed.

The final table also included John Holley (fourth 28k), Curtis Terry (fifth 21k), Chris "CD" Davis (another player seeking his second Pearl River Main Event Title, sixth $16k), Derrick Cutler (seventh $12.6k), Micahel Monaghan (eighth 10k), Luther Tran (ninth 9k), Greg Gough (tenth 6.5k).

Also running to the final two tables; Rodney Shows Kim Crawford, Vic Adams, Robbie Matthews, Robert Barca, Morton Davis, Cody Brinn, And Rodney Boswell.

MORE MILLY IN PHILLY RESULTS:

HAWK SOARS AGAIN:

Maurice Hawkins earned 19k for first in the Big Monster Stack after a late deal. Morgan McBrayer finished fourth for 15k. With 515 players the 100k on a Monday ended up with over 145k in the prize pool.

Also in the good money James Stephens ($15,515), Rashadrick Walton ($15,500), Daniel Calway-Fagen ($13,343) and Frank Wyville ($11,969).

CANANDIANS FREEZING:

The $1100 Freezeout came to a hard stop when the remaining three players agreed to an even chop of $20,680. Alan Close earned first place with the biggest stack and Edward Parkinson got credit for second. Both are a part of the large Canadian contingent that make the south.

Daniel Calway-Fagen the loan American in the chop continue the sizzling run by Tennesse players this series. Also, cashing Walker Miskelly, David Aker, Clay Henry, Matt Johnson and Aaron Pate. With 94 entrants the prize pool almost fully doubled the guarantee of $50k.

CARDEN CONQUERS:

Levi Carden won the always fun Celebrity Bounty event. Levi is pictured above with his mother after the victory.

Scott Roberts second. Walter Jackson third. Chase Turner fourth.

VIRTUSIO'S VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE:

Jaymie Virtusio battled a loaded final table in the $1500 High Roller event. She pocketed over almost $43k for first place. Heads up her opponent Donovan Dean, last years GCP Tour Championship Player of the Year, and the guy with more GCP trophies than anyone.
Donovan won just under $26k for second. Jeremy "The Chemist" Gaubert won $18.5k for third. Victor Adams, of Canada, finished fourth for $11.9k. Alec Wilson (fifth), Elliot Howze (sixth), Daniel Calway-Fagen (seventh--what a series for him), Carl Masters (eighth) and Walker Miskelly (ninth).

GRIMES WINS HUMP DAY:

Jeff Grimes finished first after a multi-way deal with Tim Sanderson, Thomas Corder, Max Le, James White, Maurice Hawkins, and Grant Ellis. Each made ~$5 to $6k. Also, in the money Michael Esquivel, Jason Bergeron, Edward Staples, Gladys Corbin, Chris Dupuy, and Curtis Hitt.

MONROE USES DOWN TIME TO GRIND:

Jerry Monroe, recovering from surgery, decided to make a week of it at Pearl River. Despite the pain, Monroe won another poker tournament earning almost $30k in his time off.

Keighobad Jafarzadegan (KJ), of Tuscaloosa, won second with over $17k. Also, at the final table Ryan Pirman, Clay Henry, Alex Popwell, Walter Jackson, Ronald Womack, and David McJenkin. This event feature just under $400 players.

DAVIS DEALS:

Donald Davis got the trophy and the W after a heads up deal with Greg Raymer. Davis won over 10k for first place in the Seniors event that almost tripled the guarantee.

An emotional victory for Davis who called Raymer one of his favorite players. The victory followed a brutal year for the Alabama native. Rob Lemke finished in third place. Carl Masters Ralph Reid, Shannon Hambled, Thomas Page, Tim Sanderson and many other notables also cashed.

ROOKIE VICTORY:

One of our favorite revelations of the Rookies Event is running a Hendon Mob and seeing ZERO results for the winner. That was the case this time for Robert Logan who bested Perrin Rodrigue heads up to win almost $6k. Perrin collected $3.6k for second. Geri Bown, Bobby Seay, Hayden mahan, Ronald Duckworth, Patsy Henry, Randy Waymen, Alex Davison, Robert Corley, Trevor Edmondson and others cashed.

MILLY IN PHILLY UPDATES:

POLCER TRIUMPHANT:

Ben Polcer of New Orleans, LA won the title after a deal was constructed between the final five plaeyrs.

Marshall White and Charles Johnson both earned $44,120. Richard Connart won over $38k and Russell Boyette over $32k.

Last Woman Sitting Jaymie Virtusio (you might notice a pattern this week) won $15.6k.

Great to see David Champion, Angela Monroe, David Aker, Greg Gough, Donnie Phan, Chase Tuner, Wade Smith, Cody Stanford, Stanislav Angelov, Jerry Giroir, June Jenkins, Salvador "Buddy" Villaluz, and Jason Bergeron make deep runs too.

With almost half a million in the prize pool there was a lot of money to go around. 147 players cashed after Bag Bonuses and multi-bags were calibrated.

Donnie Phan became the first player to ever bag four times.  Phan won the 4 Bag Freeroll which gave him an entry in every single event in the series.

Results to follow below.

LADIES NIGHT:

Good night for the ladies as Melissa Smith won the Sunday Sizzler for over $14k and Lisa Roberts the ladies event for over $4k.

Roberts in the Ladies event bested a final table that included Briggite Thomas, Arlene Berghold, Kimberly Crawford and Kerri Rumble who all cashed.

Over in the Sizzler Melissa Smith bested Barry Usery in short heads up play.

Usery won over $9k for second place.

GCP NEWS:

If you missed our December tournament because you were busy at the Wynn with the WPT World Championship, there is no excuse to miss our return there April 11th - 17th. Partnering with Southern Poker and Bally's this stop has a very Texas theme.

Don't miss their signature Texas Stack event, the Sheriff's Bounty and the opening Roundup. Always a lot of fun visiting the good people at the top of the boot and those of ya'll just over the border in Texas and Arkansas. Here's an early look at the schedule.

SOCIAL MEDIA FREEBIES:

The first social media contest for Bally's is giving away THREE seats to three different winners: they include a $350 Sheriff's Bounty seat and two $250 Round-up seats. Talk about easy to win this contest only has 14 entries in it as of this writing. That's like a 1 in 4 shot.  Can you cut and paste a meme or a photo? Then you got what it takes to win. Get it in there!

NEW PODCAST:

Should drop this weekend. After a little roundtable discussion with Gene D, Wild Bill and Ben Saxton we featured a recorded interview Ben did with the late Pat McNamara. Pat, a New Orleans poker reg, shared stories about his career in Hollywood, working with Spielberg, and his love for poker.

ROOMS ALMOST GONE:

If you are planning to come to Pearl River Resorts you better book now. We are essentially out of our best deal in poker deals, and are now directing players to contact Pearl River Resorts directly to book a room. Make sure you get the poker tournament rate (if there are any rooms still left in that bloc).

If you can't get a room at the resort, we recommend the Best Western Plus (breakfast included) just down the street. Here's Tripadvisor's rooms and rates.

FINAL THANK YOUS:

Big thank you to Adam Nash, Mary Cracchiolo Spain and all the staff at the Beau Rivage. Also to the the hardest working tournament staff and dealers in the business.

Charles Eque, Greg Brownlow and John Cressend agreed to an even three way chop. Esque and Brownlow dealt out a hand to decide the trophy and bragging rights. Each won $29,066 after a grueling final table finally wound down. After losing three players quickly including maybe the two most accomplished: Mark Davis and Preston McEwen the remaining seven played for hours. Then eliminations gradually pared it to three.

Richard "Sean" Sinclair finish fourth winning almost 14k.

We suspect she's soon to graduate out of these fields.

MILLION DOLLAR HEATER EVENT 1:

BENJAMIN BELL WINS IT:

Pensacola's Benjamin Bell won the opener for $163,425. Bell outdueled Preston McEwen heads up to take the title. McEwen navigated his way through the final few table stacking chips in an impressive ever growing pyramid and carried momentum all the way to four handed.

Then the bell rung for Bell and he picked up steam eliminating Dat Nguyen (third $65,815) and Jeffrey Gardner (fourth $53,627) giving Bell the chips to compete heads up. From there a challenging heads up battle engaged with Bell ultimately coming out on top. Here's the final hand.

As popular as the top four players are, the biggest rail at the final table was likely for Larry Duplantis. Lafayette, LA's Duplantis had many of his home game friends cheering him on in the Beau Rivage with just as many following online from afar. He won $41,439 and inspired everybody with his bold play.

James McCormack won $29,251 for sixth place. Ryan Stephens (7th $24,376), Trenton Patterson (8th $19,257) and Edward Johansen (9th $12,188) rounded out the final table. Shannon Sizemore finished 10th for $11,457.
